Ready for our Mahalo Sailing’s 10th Annual Rendezvous!

I can’t believe we’re having our 10th get together!  It’s actually 11 years, as we had to sit out 2020, but here we go!!!  We’re headed back to La Paz, again.  Back to the beautiful Sea of Cortez in Mexico, the lovely people, stunning scenery, incredible coves every night and of course, our amazing Seasterhood!!! Let’s celebrate #10 together and have a blast!

We will depart from La Paz in Baja.  You can fly there directly or it’s often easier to fly to San Jose Del Cabo and hop on a shuttle to La Paz with other participants.  We’ll have a way to coordinate all that.  Add a couple of days if you can, to explore La Paz.  It’s a charming town on the water with lots of art, food, walking the malecon and getting to know your other Seasters.  Of course, we’ll have a big dinner the night before we board.

Once we board and get underway, we will cove hop to Isla Espiritu Santo, exploring so many stunning spots.  Beach combing, swimming, snorkeling, hiking….  Sigh.  Evenings anchored far from the city lights (and cell signal) and the mayhem of the world, are so therapeutic.  A billion stars are right over your head.  The moon will be pretty small, so they will be exquisite.  Ahhhh….  We will also visit Isla Partida and swim with the Sea Lions, Isla San Francisco, where you can hike to the ridge to see the expansive views, tiny Isla Coyote, where fishing families have lived for 100s of years, explore the mangroves, dinner in the tiny village of San Evaristo, maybe a bon fire on the beach at Isla San Jose (weather permitting), nice long sails between the islands, more coves to explore on Isla Partida and Espiritu Santo, and sadly back to La Paz.

MEET US IN LA PAZ!

Is this trip for me?

This trip involves limited walking, steps in and out of the boat as well as the dinghy, a ladder to exit the water when swimming, a shared cabin with a person of your same gender, sailing for perhaps 5 hours per day, excursions ashore on foot as well as in cars. You will be living aboard a large sailboat in the tropics with multiple other guests.  The weather will be in the 80s and possible rain.  There is plenty of water, but not unlimited amounts. Don’t count on there being air conditioning onboard.

This is a high end sailing experience but not a cruise ship.  You may be asked to help in the galley, take out the trash, strip your bed at the end of the trip and help loading groceries.  It’s all part of the adventure.  Be ready to be dazzled by the beauty of the area and to make life long friends.

Accommodations.

We have chartered 3 big catamarans so far. If we have a huge turnout, we will add to the fleet. We have had as many as 8 boats in the past!! Our Captains and First Mates are all very qualified mariners holding USCG Masters Licenses. They are also loads of fun and really good in the galley. All meals onboard are included, as are all other boat expenses. We may eat ashore one night, and you will pay for whatever you eat and drink. As always, no sailing experience is required. You are always welcome to help sail the boat or just kick back and relax.

  • Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Coffee first! We begin the day by serving tasty breakfast onboard. Breakfast usually varies from crepes to yogurt and fresh fruit depending on how many activities we have planned for the day. Lunch is often served while sailing or at a day anchorage while exploring. Drinks and appetizers often run throughout the evening with lot’s of merriment and delicuous food!

  • La Paz Dinner

    The Menu

Meals aboard are healthy, balanced and determined by the available provisions. Meals are prepared by the crew but you may be asked to help chop vegetables, set the table or help with dishes, from time to time. Dietary issues will always be accommodated if we are notified in advance.

  • Michelada

    Extras

Who doesn’t love Mexican food, fresh fish and tacos? We like to introduce our group to cultural dinners as well as some of our favorite restaurants on the islands we will visit. A variety of local dining with fresh fish, great drinks and more are available at most stops. For meals aboard our crew has often put something special on the menu like dessert, locally caught fish or pastries for breakfast.
